Tallis writes that the human face is "the most sign-packed surface in the universe." National Post reviewer Robert Fulford wrote, "So far as Tallis knows, there's nothing that's uninteresting about the head. After all, a head can sneeze, kiss, laugh, yawn, vomit and cry, sometimes with the owner's permission and sometimes not." The advent of Botox is doing away with the nuances and messages that can be present in a face. The human species craves for these messages as a sign of recognition.
